Mikel Arteta's table-topping Arsenal aren't done spending yet

Arsenal are the favourites for the Premier League title after a strong start to the season but suffered a big blow as they failed to beat 10-man Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Mikel Arteta's side could not make their numerical advantage count after Moises Caicedo was sent off in the 38th minute of the encounter on Sunday and even fell behind thanks to a Trevor Chabolah goal immediately after half-time. Mikel Merino grabbed an equaliser on 59 minutes yet the league leaders struggled to break down the hosts.

The Gunners' huge summer spending spree totalling more than £250million brought a host of high-quality signings to the Emirates Stadium. Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Ezek, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera, Piero Hincapie and Kepa Arrizabalaga all arrived. But that doesn't mean there isn't room to add another big-name player or two - whether in January or next summer. Here's all the latest news from the Emirates.

Karim Adeyemi

Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Borussia Dortmund star Karim Adeyemi, reports the Mirror.

The 23-year-old has emerged as one of the Bundesliga's most exciting forwards, contributing 28 goals in 56 appearances.

Famed for his blistering speed and threat on the counter, Adeyemi has even been compared to a combination of Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke. Unlike those two, however, the Germany international offers true positional flexibility, capable of playing on either wing or through the centre.

Dortmund are believed to value Adeyemi at around £75m, though with his contract running until 2027, there may be scope for negotiation.

Arsenal sporting director Andrea Beta is said to be leading their pursuit of Elche's Spanish midfielder Rodrigo Mendoza, before the January transfer window opens.

According to FootballInsider, the 20-year-old player has a release clause in his contract worth around £17m, which is seen as good value for the Spanish Under21s regular.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed what he's been hearing about Arsenal and Mendoza in a YouTube video on Saturday night.

He said: "Arsenal had their scouts already at two games between October and November to follow Mendoza.

"Arsenal are keeping a close eye on the player. Not only Arsenal, because also Italian and Spanish clubs are monitoring him.

"Spanish, quality player, 20 years old, €20m could be a bargain. Arsenal are very good with these opportunities."
