David Ornstein Reveals What Marc Guehi's Actual Stance Is On Prospective Liverpool Move

Liverpool are NOT favourites to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, according to The Athletic ‘s David Ornstein.

The trusted journalist claims the England international is open to all offers, and he may “end up” joining the team that has the best chance of winning the Champions League.

“Any suggestion that switching to Anfield is a formality would be wide of the mark; the situation remains open, the competition fierce, and Guehi will listen to all interested parties before making his decision.”

“Although the 25-year-old England centre-back will have numerous destinations to choose from – and some not currently high in the pecking order could emerge as such, depending on how their seasons unfold – it is anticipated he will end up joining one of those who are expected to challenge for the Champions League trophy.”

Liverpool’s performances could damage their prospects

Based on what Ornstein says, it appears that the Reds’ terrible recent form – which has seen them slip down into the bottom half of the Premier League table – will impact their chances of recruiting Guehi in the New Year.

Arne Slot‘s side look miles away from competing for Champions League qualification, let alone winning the competition outright, at the moment. Of course, things could change between now and January but it does seem as if the opportunity to secure the centre-back’s services is slipping away.

Who are the other teams pursuing Guehi?

Manchester City are the other Premier League side who have the most concrete interest in the former Chelsea defender.

Foreign clubs, meanwhile, can speak directly with Guehi and his representatives on January 1st and it is believed that Barcelona and Bayern Munich are the two likeliest to make a move, with Real Madrid still said to be weighing up their options.
