Arsenal and Chelsea are battling it out at the top end of the Premier League table against Manchester City
Arsenal lead the way at the summit of the Premier League table after 13 fixtures. They are five points above Manchester City in 2nd and six above Chelsea in third tier. Aston Villa then occupy the final place in the top four above Brighton and Hove Albion, Sunderland, Manchester United and Liverpool.
The Gunners are hoping that this is the year that they can finally get their hands on the trophy. Mikel Arteta’s side have fallen short in the title race over the past few years. However, there is still plenty of time to go before the end of the season and things can change very quickly.
Arsenal and Chelsea battling it out for the Premier League title with Manchester City
Arsenal and Chelsea drew 1-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon in their latest league outing. Midfielder Moises Caicedo was sent off in the first half for a dangerous foul on Mikel Merino. That meant Enzo Maresca’s men had to play the whole second half with 10 men.
Nevertheless, they opened the scoring soon after the interval through defender Trevoh Chalobah. The Blues weren’t able to hold on for the win though and conceded shortly after when Merino headed home for the visitors. Neither team found a winner and the spoils were shared in the end.
Maresca will be pleased with the way his players dug deep with a man less to secure a result. It was important that his team didn’t lose the match as it would have widened the gap between them and Arsenal. As for the Gunners, they will be disappointed that they didn’t secure all three points but won’t be too disheartened as they weren’t beaten and didn’t have William Saliba or Gabriel playing.
