All of the biggest Fantasy Premier League injury news ahead of Gameweek 14.
For the first time this season, Premier League action runs right the way through the middle of the week – and that means yet another Fantasy Premier League deadline is imminent, with players needing to have made all of their moves by Tuesday evening to avoid missing out.
As always, however, there are also plenty of fresh injuries to worry about, with the likes of William Saliba and Ismaïla Sarr among the doubts heading into Gameweek 14 – and there are quite a few potentially interesting assets on the cusp of a comeback from long-running fitness problems as well, such as Cole Palmer and Yoane Wissa.
To help you navigate the first midweek FPL deadline of the 2025/26 campaign, we’ve collated all of the latest media reports and listened in to the managers’ pre-match press conferences to bring you the latest news on the Fantasy-relevant players who might miss out.
William Saliba a doubt for Arsenal – and will Cole Palmer play against Leeds?
William Saliba: Saliba missed the 1-1 draw with Chelsea over the weekend after picking up a knock (the exact nature of which has not been disclosed) in training. Mikel Arteta said that he would get a scan on Monday and that the club wouldn’t know whether he will be fit to face Brentford until after that – and it’s not yet clear whether we’ll get a meaningful update ahead of the Tuesday FPL deadline.
We’ll update here if we get any clear-cut details, but for now Saliba has to be viewed as a major doubt. Martin Ødegaard, incidentally, could return to the starting line-up after consecutive appearances from the bench, while Leandro Trossard is likely to play some part after a minor injury.
Cole Palmer: Enzo Maresca suggested before the game against Arsenal that Palmer might start after recovering from a groin injury and a fractured toe, but in the end the attacking midfielder was left on the bench – suggesting that he’s unlikely to manage a full 90 minutes against Leeds in midweek.
Maresca does not have a Monday press conference, so we don’t know when we might get confirmation of his game status, but we suggest holding off another few days before bringing him back into your team. It seems he’s still not quite 100%.
Ismaïla Sarr and Murillo among Gameweek 14 doubts – and when is Yoane Wissa back?
Yoane Wissa: One of the best FPL assets of the past couple of years, Wissa hasn’t been able to play all season but is getting closer to a comeback after coming through a full training match over the weekend – but he won’t be involved just yet, based on Eddie Howe’s comments.
The Newcastle manager suggested that Wissa would get another training match before he made his Magpies debut, implying that we’ll be waiting another week at least. Elsewhere, Nick Pope owners need to sell as he was set to lose his place to Aaron Ramsdale even before he picked up an injury which sounds likely to keep him out this week. Sven Botman isn’t a popular pick right now, but should be avoided anyway as he’s sustained an injury which he’s about to see a specialist about.
Ismaïla Sarr: As it stands, Crystal Palace winger Sarr is orange flagged in the FPL app but it sounds likely to be red before too long – Oliver Glasner has already said that Sarr may not play again this side of the Africa Cup of Nations after picking up an ankle injury against Manchester United. Almost certainly a player you need to sell right now, sadly.
Murillo: Sean Dyche has said that he is “hopeful” that the Brazilian centre-back will be back for the midweek match against Wolves, but it’s very much uncertain. Morgan Gibbs-White is a minor doubt as he works through back discomfort but sounds likely to play, and Chris Wood seems to be out for another couple of weeks despite recent positive noises concerning his availability.
Matheus Cunha: Cunha missed the match against Palace due to a head injury and while it’s unlikely to be confirmed by the club prior to the deadline, the Brazilian will almost certainly be out for at least one more match and perhaps two. The chance he’s involved this Thursday is very low indeed.
Kaoru Mitoma: It’s also very unlikely that we see Mitoma in action against Aston Villa. The Japanese winger is seemingly permanently flagged as a ‘doubt’ in the app but Fabian Hürzeler, who had repeatedly predicted his player’s imminent return for several weeks in a row, has now downgraded his prediction for Mitoma’s comeback to merely “before Christmas.” Not a player we’re trusting to be available until we see him back on a pitch.
