Opinion: Everton target goes viral after horror Panenka penalty which is actually quite hard to …

Everton are exploring a number of deals ahead of the January transfer window, which opens in just over four weeks.

It was reported over the weekend that Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson is on David Moyes’ radar, and he is available for around £25m.

He’d be an upgrade on Mykolenko…

Moyes is also keen to sign a centre-forward, with former talisman Richarlison continuing to be linked with a return to Everton.

The Toffees are also scouting a striker on the continent, and he’s just gone viral for an excruciating Panenka penalty miss.

Everton target Troy Parrott misses awful Panenka penalty

Everton had scouts watching Troy Parrott during the last international break, and he certainly made a big impression, netting two against Portugal and a hat-trick against Hungary.

The Toffees have been told it’d take around £31m to sign Parrott, who has already netted 19 goals for AZ Alkmaar and the Republic of Ireland this season.

But, Moyes and his recruitment staff won’t have been too encouraged by Parrott’s game against Twente at the weekend, as he missed one of the worst Panenka penalties you’ll probably ever see.

That’s a bad one…

Alkmaar ended up losing 1-0, which was their third consecutive defeat, slipping down to fourth in the Eredivisie.

It’ll be interesting to see how Parrott reacts when he returns to action on Wednesday evening against PEC Zwolle.

Troy Parrott apologised to his teammates

Speaking to the media after the game, Alkmaar manager Marten Maartens explained that Parrott did apologise to his teammates.

“It was poor finishing,” Maartens said.

“If he chipped it there and scored, he’d be doing well. Troy took responsibility; he gave it his all today, but didn’t finish well. He’s already taken responsibility for that with the rest of the team.

“He took responsibility for the loss of points, and rightly so. He can do much better than this, he realises that himself. It wasn’t good enough today. He’s still a striker, and he is creative. We’ll definitely talk about it.”

It’s unlikely that miss will have any impact on a potential transfer to Everton, but it certainly isn’t a great look by any means.
