Liverpool’s December fixture list offers Arne Slot the opportunity to get his side back on track, with some favourable fixtures, on paper at least!
November proved quite the month for Liverpool. It started with two important victories against Aston Villa and Real Madrid, but concluded with Slot’s job under threat.
The win at West Ham offered a needed reprieve, but defeats to Man City, Nottingham Forest and PSV showed Liverpool’s ugly side, leaving plenty to do to reset their season.
On paper, though, the Reds’ December fixtures offer a chance to recover and move up the table.
December 3 – Sunderland

The newly-promoted side will prove a test at Anfield having shown they are up for the fight this season as they currently sit sixth in the table, though only a point ahead of Liverpool.
They have an impressive record of recovery, as exemplified by coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 against Bournemouth over the weekend, and that resilience is something Liverpool are in need of.
Nevertheless, it is a fixture, on paper, the champions should be winning at Anfield, and a positive result here could set them up nicely for what is to come.

December 6 – Leeds (A)

Another newly-promoted side then awaits at Elland Road against a Leeds outfit that have dropped 10 points at home already this season from six fixtures.
Leeds‘ manager Daniel Farke is under pressure, though the performance at Man City was encouraging, with his side struggling to score and keep the ball out of the back of their net.
Only one team has scored fewer goals than Leeds (13) in the league so far and only three have conceded more (25), meaning opportunities will come for Liverpool.

December 9 – Inter (A)

Liverpool then travel to Milan for their final Champions League game of 2025, in what will likely be their toughest test this month.
Inter currently sit fourth in the league phase table having won four and lost only one, conceding just three goals from their five matches compared to Liverpool’s eight.
They are also firmly in the Serie A title fight, just a point behind rivals AC Milan and Napoli at the top. This will be a good marker for where Liverpool are at.

December 13 – Brighton

It is then back to Anfield after a run of consistent midweek-weekend fixtures, with Brighton making the long trip for the Saturday afternoon kickoff.
The Seagulls have been somewhat inconsistent with their results, beating Chelsea and Man City but drawing to last-placed Wolves and losing to Man United.
Brighton will arrive after a six-day break, but it is a match Liverpool should be winning. The club will also hope to still have Mo Salah for this fixture before he heads off for AFCON.

December 20 – Tottenham (A)

Thomas Frank started life at Spurs positively but has since seen his side unravel, not unlike Liverpool, and the club’s fans have voiced their disapproval.
After 13 games, they sit 12th in the table, but it is their home record which ought to give the Reds encouragement, as their first seven league games concluded with just one win and four defeats.
Slot will have a week to prepare for this fixture and the luxury of training time ought to be put to good use.

December 27 – Wolves

A week later the month then concludes with a visit from Wolves, who at the time of writing, sit plumb last in the Premier League having picked up two points from 13 games.
They scored only seven goals in that run while conceding 28, the worst in the division on both accounts.
Liverpool love to gift points to the league’s strugglers, but this is one fixture that they surely do not relinquish points in. On paper, it is the easiest of them all.
