As a collegiate superstar at Purdue, Zach Edey at times felt unstoppable.
It was never quite clear how that would translate into the modern NBA of pace and space and 3-pointers, though. The Memphis Grizzlies drafted Edey hoping for an effective big man, but the league as a whole was still at least a bit skeptical.
On Sunday, at least for a day, Edey was absolutely unstoppable again.

In fact, he put up a performance against the Sacramento Kings that hasn't been done by anyone since Shaq.
The final stats for Edey were absurd:
32 points
17 rebounds
5 blocks
16-for-20 FG

StatMuse shared that Edey did something no one has done since Shaquille O'Neal.

The 7-foot-3, 300-pound center is bigger than anyone he matches up with. In the right system and setup, Edey can still be dominant.
It's not the way NBA teams play very often these days, but on a night like the one Edey was having, you keep finding ways to give him the ball.
Post players have gone out of vogue, but there also aren't other post players like Edey. He proved that on Sunday for the Grizzlies.
