It's no secret that the Oklahoma City Thunder are on a tear. After winning a championship last season, Oklahoma City has been nearly unbeatable to begin the 2025-26 season. Entering Sunday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers, the Thunder were 19-1 and in the midst of an 11-game win-streak.
That said, their resilience would be tested once more against Portland, as the Blazers have been the only team to defeat Oklahoma City this season.
Although they entered the fourth quarter trailing, the Thunder outscored Portland 38-28 in the final frame to take an eight point victory. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team in scoring with 26 points, 10 of which came in the final four minutes of play. Chet Holmgren stepped up in the absence of Isaiah Hartenstein, posting 19 points and nine rebounds. Jalen Williams scored 16 points to go along with eight rebounds as he continues to get back up to speed after missing the first 19 games with a hand injury. Ajay Mitchell also shined, adding 17 points off the bench.
The win now makes a 12-game win streak for OKC and a 20-1 record. The win also marked another milestone for Gilgeous-Alexander who now has the second longest streak of consecutive 20+ point performances in NBA history. Gilgeous-Alexander now has 93 such games in a row, trailing Wilt Chamberlain by 33 games for the all-time record, a mark that has the potential to be beaten this season.
Oklahoma City will have Monday off before traveling to Golden State to face the Warriors on Tuesday.
