Man City lineup vs. Fulham: Projected starting XI, team news, injury list as Guardiola seeks to end away day woes

JUMP TO:

Manchester City left it late to get back to winning ways at the weekend after Phil Foden's excellent stoppage-time strike snatched a 3-2 win over struggling Leeds United.

Next up is a trip to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham on Tuesday, a venue where City have won on each of their past seven visits and have not lost since 2005.

However, Pep Guardiola's side have lost their past two Premier League away games at Aston Villa and Newcastle and have only won once away from home in the league since prophetically hammering Wolves 4-0 on the opening weekend.

Arsenal's 1-1 London derby draw against Chelsea meant City finished the weekend in second place, five points behind the Gunners. However, their form on the road must improve if a team still clearly in transition is to muster a sustained title challenge.

Fulham have endured a difficult campaign to date but come into this fixture buoyed by their 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur.

Man City team news

Rodri remains out and, with Mateo Kovacic a long-term absentee, Guardiola's options in terms of freshening up central midfield are limited. Rico Lewis might join Nico Gonzalez and weekend matchwinner Phil Foden in the engine room.

Savinho and Omar Marmoush could rotate in to freshen up Guardiola's wide attacking options.

Abdukodir Khusanov, John Stones, Nathan Ake and Rayan Ait-Nouri are all options if Guardiola wishes to alter a back four that was unchanged in the Premier League throughout November.

Man City injury list

Below is the latest injury picture for Manchester City, and estimated return dates for those who are sidelined.

Rodri

Injury: Hamstring

Expected return date: December 6

Rodri has suffered a couple of muscular injury setbacks since his return from ACL surgery at the FIFA Club World Cup.

A late substitute cameo against Bournemouth was his first competitive action since suffering a hamstring problem at Brentford a month ago. He has not featured since and Guardiola did not sound entirely convinced when asked whether he would return for City's next home game against Sunderland on December 6.

Mateo Kovacic

Injury: Heel/ankle

Expected return date: February/March 2026

Croatia midfielder Kovacic underwent Achilles surgery over the summer but has suffered a serious setback.

After the 3-1 win over Bournemouth on November 2, Guardiola said the former Chelsea and Real Madrid player would be "out for a while".

"He still has a problem with the ankle, a little calcification still there. We'll wait on him for the last part of the season," the City boss added. Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti confirmed the news and said Kovacic's recovery was likely to take three to four months.
