Alan Shearer Stuns Arsenal Fans with Explosive Take on the 10-Man Chelsea Draw

Former Premier League striker Alan Shearer has slammed Arsenal for their performance against Chelsea over the weekend.

The Gunners weren’t able to capitalise on Chelsea being down to 10 men, as they only managed to draw 1-1 against the Blues at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon. With a win, Arsenal could’ve extended their lead at the top of the table to eight points, but they couldn’t find a winning goal.

Chelsea were arguably the better of the two teams, but a red card for Moises Caicedo made the Blues’ task of winning that bit more difficult. Arsenal did get a point from the game after Mikel Merino scored their equaliser, but they couldn’t find a winner.

Arsenal will now head into their next game against Brentford, hoping to extend the lead to eight points, and put more pressure on Manchester City.

Shearer says Arsenal ‘didn’t deserve’ to beat Chelsea

Former Premier League striker Alan Shearer has said that Arsenal weren’t good enough in the game on Sunday, and that they didn’t deserve to win against their London rivals.

Shearer said on the Rest is Football Podcast: “I thought it was a fair result, actually. I didn’t think Arsenal did enough to win the game against 10 men, but I also think Chelsea did really well in terms of making it difficult and stopping a very good Arsenal team who have been the most consistent by a mile out of everyone.

“So, yeah, I thought it was a fair result. It was probably, when you look at the bigger picture, a decent point for both teams.”

It wasn’t all bad for the Gunners

Despite the result, Arsenal did get a positive in the fact that both Viktor Gyokeres and Gabriel Jesus were able to return to the matchday squad from their long-term injuries.

Gyokeres came on during the game, but wasn’t able to score, whereas Jesus remained on the bench. It did provide a positive for Arsenal though, as they now have two fit strikers, and are also likely to see Kai Havertz return to action, which is great news for Arteta.
