Manchester City are 'in love with' Elliot Anderson so much that the former Premier League champions have watched him more than 10 times this season already.

That's according to Sky Sports Switzerland, who have labelled the England international as City's '2026 obsession', as Pep Guardiola looks to build another side capable of dominating English football once more.

And it is suggested that the feeling is mutual, with the broadcaster claiming that Anderson has already told his 'professional circle' that he is giving priority to the Manchester club with regard to any future transfer.

That might not be a view shared so favourably by Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, who is said to have slapped a £100million price tag on the 23-year-old, a lofty figure that City are so far unwilling to meet.

Anderson has made 13 Premier League appearances for Forest so far this season, as new manager Sean Dyche looks to get a floundering season back on track, following the sackings of Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou.

Dyche need not worry about losing his key midfielder in January, however, as the report states that any move for Anderson will not materialise until after next year's World Cup in Mexico, Canada and the USA.

The report also claims that should City fall short in their pursuit of Anderson, they have an alternative option in the form of Atalanta enforcer Ederson, who is believed to want to leave the Serie A club and has a considerably lower price tag of around £26-£35million.

Anderson's consistently high performance levels have seen him force his way into Thomas Tuchel's England squad, and the midfielder is currently expected to be in the squad that crosses the Atlantic for the World Cup next summer.
