Anthony Edwards has now set another Minnesota Timberwolves franchise scoring record, once again leading a well-rounded team with title hopes.

Anthony Edwards is the franchise player for the Minnesota Timberwolves, and just six seasons into his NBA career,he’s made a strong mark on the team.

Leading the Timberwolves to two straight conference finals appearances, five straight+.500 regular season records, and now putting up historic scoring numbers, Edwards is a proven superstar in the league.

Most recently, the star shooting guard set another franchise record. In a post made by the team, Minnesota announced Edwards now holds the franchise record for most 30-point games, after dropping 32 against the San Antonio Spurs in their latest win.

Karl-Anthony Towns previously held the record, scoring at least 30 points on 101 occasions from 2015 to 2024.Kevin Garnetthit the 30-point mark 82 times from 1995 to 2007 and 2014 to 2016, butit’s now Edwards atop the list, hitting the mark at just 24 years old.

Anthony Edwards Continues To Dominate

As a shooting guard,it’s hard to find someone who better fits the description in the modern NBA than Edwards.Through his first six seasons, the former Georgia Bulldog has career averages of 24.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.3 steals per gameon 44.9%shooting.

While it might be a stretchto already compare him to the all-time greats, Edwards fits the mold of the best shooting guards the league has ever seen: Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, and others.

Edwards has now hit the 30-point mark 102 times in only 397 total appearances. It took Towns nearly 573 games tohit the 101mark, but the 24-year-old has quickly proven to be astronger, pure scorer who has led the team to greater heights.

This season,he’s averaging aleague-seventh 28.9 points per game, acareer-high also on his best 49.1% shooting. Thoughhe’s second on the team in assists behind Julius Randle, Edwards has also beenMinnesota’s lead playmaker, with point guard Mike Conley in the final chapter of his career.

“That leaves it up to Edwards, one of the best young scorers in the league, to take his role to a higher level,”Jon Krawczynski wrote for The Athletic. “His vision, passing and understanding of how to attack when the opponent is sending doubles his way have all increased noticeably this season.”

Offensively, Edwards is doing it all for the Timberwolves. His scoring prowess is easy to see, but now, and even over the last few years,he’s turned Minnesota into what was a franchise marred with losing, into a consistent title hopeful in the West, and that is the case once again in 2025.

Timberwolves Could Be Scary

Along with Edwards breaking the30-point games franchise record,he’s led the Timberwolves to a 12-8 record. While not as strongcompared to teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder or Detroit Pistons, Minnesota is now one of those teams thatjust needs to be a top-six seed in the playoffs and have another gear to enter the postseason.

Besides the dominant Edwards performances, the franchise has seen a strong start to the year for Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, Jaden McDaniels, and Naz Reid. Each is averaging at least 13 points per game and has missed a combined one contest this season.

“We’re a hard team to beat whenwe’re all involved, and it shows,”Reid said after their fourth-quarter comeback against the Spurs. “If we could do that more consistently,we’re going to be a really, really hard team to beat. It’s fun, especially whenyou’re doing it at home, getting the crowd involved and all that good stuff. It’s fun basketball.”

Additionally, Rudy Gobert and Conley have been consistent, each yet to miss a game this season.Though by the end of the night, their stats might not jump off the page, both round out a roster that has provento be able to beat any given team, on any given night.

The Lead

Biggest on/off net rating swing this season (min. 400 minutes):

“The flow in their offense was exceptional,”Krawczynski wrote in a separate article after their San Antonio win. “The sweat equity on defense was as good as it has been all season. A team that has been in search of an identity all season long may have just gotten a glimpse of it.”

The Timberwolves rank eighth in net and offensive rating, while tenth in defensive rating, one of only a few teams in the top third of the league in each. They have the star of Edwards and the co-star of Randle, along with a strong supporting cast, that at its peak, can win four playoff rounds in a row.
