Chelsea predicted XI vs Leeds as Enzo Maresca solves Moises Caicedo and Reece James issue

Chelsea will not have long to savour their brilliant end to November before they make the trip up to Elland Road to face Leeds in the Premier League.

The Blues will be reigniting old rivalries with a game against one of the club’s most bitter enemies from the 1960s and beyond, which culminated in the brutal 1970 FA Cup final.

Why do Chelsea and Leeds hate each other so much?

A rivalry which started in the 1960s, the biggest flashpoint came in the 1970 FA Cup final

Enzo Maresca will already be aware that he will be without Moises Caicedo for the game after his red card against the Gunners, but there will be at least one more key name missing from the starting side.

Maresca admitted Reece James is unlikely to start, leaving him with some big calls to make when it comes to picking his midfielders on Wednesday.

The Chelsea Chronicle have selected their predicted XI for who will look to keep up Chelsea’s ambitious title fight at Elland Road.

Chelsea Predicted XI vs Leeds

Robert Sanchez had arguably his best performance of the season against Arsenal, and will continue in the starting side for the upcoming fixture.

With no James in the starting side, the decision is easy to keep Malo Gusto in. He is another who is enjoying an upturn in performances of late.

There will be a start again for Josh Acheampong, who despite impressing greatly this season is being protected by his manager.

Next to him will be Benoit Badiashile. This would give Maresca the same central defensive duo who started against Liverpool.

At left-back, Marc Cucurella will be handed a rest, in place of Jorrel Hato. This is arguably the riskiest decision the boss will make.

Andrey Santos will come into the middle of the midfield, after waiting patiently for his opportunities at Stamford Bridge.

He will partner Enzo Fernandez, who won over some fans by smashing into Noni Madueke after he was brought on last time out.

Ahead of those two, Cole Palmer will make his long-awaited return to action. He was an unused substitute against Arsenal.

Who will have the better career at Chelsea?

On the right, Estevao Willian will keep his place after only featuring for 45 minutes against Arsenal.

The opposite wing will see Alejandro Garnacho start, leaving Jamie Gittens to have to continue to work and earn more regular starts for Chelsea.

Up front, Liam Delap will get the nod ahead of Joao Pedro.
