Celtics sign historic 23-year-old guard to help Jaylen Brown

Following Sunday night's victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Boston Celtics have put themselves at two games over 500.

Players like Payton Pritchard and Neemias Queta have been more than impactful for Boston, but Jaylen Brown has really been carrying the team on his back.

Brown is averaging a career high 28.4 points per game, and is doing it on 49% from the field.

His midrange game is one of the best in the league, but despite his individual and the team's success, they may need a bit more help if they hope to compete for a championship.

Boston recently made a move to sign historic guard Keon Johnson, who will join the Celtics’ G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics.

Johnson started 56 games last season for the Brooklyn Nets and holds the NBA combine record for the highest recorded max vertical at 48 inches.

The 6-foot-5 23 23-year-old averaged 10.2 points per game last season for the Nets in 79 games played.

Johnson has also spent time with the Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Clippers.

He will join the Maine Celtics in hopes of being called up to Boston.

While it may seem like a minor move, players like Josh Minott and Jordan Walsh have seen increased minutes, mainly due to their athleticism, which Johnson also possesses in abundance.

While the Celtics continue to search for their lineup moving forward, Johnson may be considered for a spot on the team to see if he can earn a spot.
