On _RadioEstadio Noche_ (Onda Cero), Santiago Segurola criticized the scheduling situation that will keep Real Madrid away from the Bernabeu for more than a month. Coming off three consecutive league draws and the loss of their lead atop La Liga, Segurola argued that the disruption matters more than the club is willing to admit.
“The Madrid team won’t be able to play at home for over a month due to the NFL’s nonsense… that kind of thing weighs on football too,” he said. The NFL’s use of the stadium has pushed Madrid into a long stretch of away fixtures at a moment when the team desperately needs stability and rhythm.
Segurola didn’t hide his frustration: “The team can’t play at home because the NFL guys have to play… don’t make me laugh.”
Florentino Perez and the Madrid board have been criticized in the past for putting commercial profit over sporting success. Perez and the board may justifiably argue the two go hand-in-hand but there is no doubting that extended run of games away from the Bernabeu has been a hindarance for the team.
