A potential Liverpool and Everton swap deal that would see both clubs sign players they have registered interest in.
It’s not very often Liverpool and Everton do direct business with each other on the transfer window but the two rivals have been showing increasing interest in each other’s players over recent years.
Over the summer, Liverpool were among the many clubs keeping an eye on Jarrad Branthwaite, while Everton were keen on former Anfield ace Ben Doak.
Now, more rumours are emerging as we approach the January window, and this time it’s the Reds keeping tabs on Iliman Ndiaye.
Liverpool interested in Everton star Iliman Ndiaye
According to Foot Mercato, Liverpool are among the Premier League clubs showing interest in Ndiaye, who is enjoying his football with Everton at the moment.
The winger is said to be ‘high’ on each club’s transfer shortlist ahead of the new year, but naturally, the Toffees aren’t going to be swayed so easily.
TEAMtalk claims that Everton have ‘no intention’ of listening to any offers for Ndiaye in January. The Senegal international is now a key part of David Moyes’ side but he is also under contract until 2029, meaning the Blues are in no rush to engage in potential transfer talk.
While no specific price tag has been mentioned, the report claims others have suggested it could take an offer in the region of £70 million to get Everton to sit and pay attention. Any sale, even for that price, would be ‘reluctant’ from Everton’s point of view but if Liverpool were determined to try for Ndiaye, they could offer up a player of their own to sweeten the deal a bit.
Liverpool can offer player swap deal to Everton
Business between the Merseyside rivals is rare, but swapping players between them is even less heard of. However, as the transfer windows get a little wackier every year, we thought we’d suggest one that would actually see both clubs sign a player they want.
Liverpool are clearly interested in Ndiaye, with Mohamed Salah underperforming and Federico Chiesa linked with a move away. Everton have been credited with interest in Harvey Elliott in the past, who looks set to return to Anfield in January.
Should he return to Liverpool next month, the Reds will need to revisit the interest being shown in him. Elliott hasn’t been short of suitors since the summer, with Everton among those in the Premier League interested in his signature.
Everton News reported in June that ‘nearly half of the Premier League are seriously looking’ at Elliott, with Everton among those clubs. This was during the same time as their interest in Doak.
While the Toffees would be signing a trophy-winning, versatile player they have already been linked with, they would be giving up a player in return who they would quite like to keep hold of. Liverpool, on the other hand, made the decision to offload Elliott, knowing they cannot give him the regular minutes he deserves.
This would likely mean the Reds would need to add some money to the deal as well but on the surface, both clubs would be getting players they admire.
