Chelsea already have potential plan in place to sign Manchester United defender Leny Yoro - journalist

There is a possibility that Chelsea and Manchester United could be set to do more business with each other.

In the summer, Chelsea signed Alejandro Garnacho from United, and it appears that they now have Leny Yoro on their radar.

Back in February, it had already been claimed that Chelsea were eyeing Yoro.

Nothing happened in the previous transfer window, but the Blues could make a move for the central defender in the future.

Chelsea could offer players to Manchester United for Leny Yoro

According to journalist Simon Phillips, nothing is imminent, with the Club World Cup winners not planning to make an immediate swoop for Yoro.

However, Phillips has also claimed on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that the Blues could try to do something “later down the line” and are likely to offer players to United to help facilitate a deal.

Chelsea are not exactly light in the centre-back positions right now. Enzo Maresca currently has Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo and Josh Acheampong to call upon.

When he is back from his ACL injury, Levi Colwill will also be an option for the Chelsea head coach.

Nevertheless, the Conference League holders still appear to be admirers of Yoro and seem to be watching him.

Where Leny Yoro excels

If Chelsea do go on to sign Yoro at some point, they will be acquiring a central defender who is great at carrying the ball.

Bringing the ball out of defence is one of the French youngster’s biggest strengths, which is reflected in his stats.

According to FBref, Yoro makes 1.63 progressive carries per 90 minutes, putting him in the 94th percentile among centre-backs.

All in all, the 20-year-old has a lot of potential and fits Chelsea’s profile. However, it would be a big surprise if they went on to sign him.

Yoro is not in the same situation as Garnacho was. The France Under-21 international is not someone United are looking to sell.
