Chelsea and Man United keeping tabs on Brazilian starlet

High-flying Chelsea will hope to stay in touch with the Premier League’s top two sides when they visit Leeds United on Wednesday night.

The Blues earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw against leaders Arsenal on Sunday, despite playing much of the game with ten men following Moises Caicedo’s dismissal in the first-half.

That result kept Enzo Maresca’s side third in the top flight standings, five points behind the Gunners.

Now, ahead of their trip to Elland Road, it has emerged that Chelsea are one of two huge Premier League clubs interested in a Brazilian youngster.

As per Diario AS, via CaughtOffside, both Chelsea and Manchester United have entered into talks with Brazilian side Gremio about a possible move for defender Luis Eduardo.

The report claims that the two Premier League giants are both interested in the 17-year-old centre-back, who made his senior debut for Gremio in February.

To date the teenager has made just a single appearance for his boyhood club at senior level, but the report suggests that the new contract he signed earlier this year included a release clause set at approximately £52 million.

Eduardo has also impressed for Brazil at the Under-17 World Cup over the past month or so, featuring in all seven of their games as they were defeated by Italy in the final.

Both Chelsea and Man United are said to have made initial contact in regard to a possible move for the defender, and the report suggests that both the Blues and the Red Devils are set to make formal offers to sign the player imminently.

Despite significant interest from some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, it is claimed that Gremio are keen to keep hold of the defender as he is regarded as an integral part of the club’s future.
