**Soungoutou Magassa returned to the starting squad for the Hammers, and yesterday afternoon was considered one of the better players on the field.**
Nuno Espírito Santo decided to try something new against Liverpool, which saw four midfielders playing in the heart of the team instead of the classic three which we maintained unbeaten with for three in a row.
But, the tactical change didn’t prove to be costly, seeing as Magassa managed to fuel the London Stadium alight with his ‘die-for’ challenges and getting stuck in at every moment possible.
Seeing as he was one of the most aggressive players on the pitch, Liverpool unfortunately took advantage of that and continually went down via the smallest of touches, which the eager-to-blow referee in Darren England, bought.
Magassa made two tackles and three recoveries across his 68-minute appearance before being hooked off which was primarily due to the yellow card he had.
The card in question was one where he had won the ball cleanly through a diving challenge, winning 100% of the ball, but still received a booking.
Across his time, he managed two passes into the final third, which did provide us a chance or two, but unfortunately, they’d lead to nothing.
It certainly wasn’t a mesmerising game from the young Frenchman, but he got the fans on their feet with some of the challenges he was doing which is rare to see in the Premier League, which is likely due to his inexperience at England Football but over time, I’m certain he will develop and integrate more into his game and he could become a pivital player as time goes on and for the future.
