The relationship between Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves has blossomed this season off the court as much as it has on the court.
While the pair is the top scoring duo in the league, they have also become great friends when the games are over, too. It’s been the subject of many an edit on social media and every Lakers fan is acutely aware of it.
Their friendship has grown to the point that, invited or not, Reaves is showing up in Slovenia next summer.
“I told him last summer I was coming,” Reaves said after Sunday’s win over the Pelicans. “He didn’t tell me no, but he didn’t tell me yes. But next summer I’m going to be there. I don’t know if he’s gonna welcome me, but I’m coming for sure.”
It would be a hilarious YouTube series to drop Reaves in Slovenia and force him to try to find Luka. It would be even funnier if Luka also just wasn’t in Slovenia at the time either.
At this point, the end of every Lakers game brings with it a new chapter to the Reaves-Luka friendship. During the walk-off interview after Sunday’s game, Reaves revealed that he missed his final free throw on purpose so that Luka could be the leading scorer…which Luka was certainly appreciative of.
All of this banter between the two just makes the idea of an offseason series of the two of them in Slovenia all the more entertaining. Follow them around for a week as Luka shows him all sorts of things that I’m sure a kid from Arkansas has not experienced.
