Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the reigning NBA MVP, and it seems like he’s hungry for another one. The Oklahoma City Thunder superstar is scoring at a ridiculous rate once again. And as he continues to impress, he’s getting closer to a wild Wilt Chamberlain scoring record.
Gilgeous-Alexander has led OKC to a 20-1 record; they seem unbeatable at the moment. He is averaging 32.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game. It’s also been 93 games since he last failed to score 20 points. This means he’s second only to the legendary Wilt when it comes to a 20-point scoring streak.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has scored 20+ points in 93 straight games… the 2nd-longest streak in NBA history behind only Wilt Chamberlain!

SGA’s streak is the second-longest in league history, but he has 33 games to go to catch up with Wilt. The way he’s been playing, though, no fan would bet against SGA getting there. His teammate Jalen Williams recently reacted to the streak.
"That’s pretty insane… he outworks a lot of the competition… it also doesn’t shock me." 🙌
After Shai extended his 20+ PT streak to 93 games in a row (2nd-longest after Wilt), JDub talked about the stat and the work SGA puts in. 🔥 pic.twitter.com/4Nk33VT04T

“Pretty impressive streak. Of 20, you say? Dang, bro,” Williams said. “That’s pretty insane. I think seeing him work out in the summer, seeing him work tirelessly on his body and his craft, it’s not so much of a shock to me to hear that stat.”

Gilgeous-Alexander is arguably the best player in the world. His stats speak for themselves, and his team continues to win at a historic pace. If he can match and beat this Wilt record, it will provide a massive boost to his chances of winning consecutive MVP awards.
