Leeds United have one player who is at risk of missing Saturday’s game with Liverpool at Elland Road
However, Leeds captain Ethan Ampadu is also on four bookings and will not feature against Liverpool if he is booked against Chelsea. Premier League rules state that any player who is booked five times in the first 19 games will be handed a one-match suspension for the following game.
Ampadu has played 11 games for Leeds this campaign and averages 2.5 tacklers per 90 along with two clearances. Speaking about his importance to the side, back-up goalkeeper Karl Darlow said earlier in the campaign he had taken on the mantle of captain impressively.
He said: “I just think he’s a fantastic person. Like I say, he’s such a young lad, really, and he’s been given this responsibility to lead Leeds, which is a huge football club, and he’s just taken it into his stride.
“I can’t speak highly enough of him for what he does day in, day out. And then obviously his performances on the pitch. Yeah, he’s brilliant. We’re really close. We get on really well. So yeah, he’s someone that I admire. The way he trains day in, day out and his professionalism.
“And the way he’s almost handled the pressure that’s put on him of captaincy, and you wouldn’t know any different to how he was before that.”
Ampadu is clearly an important player for Leeds and he is not somebody they would want to be without for Saturday’s clash with Liverpool. Daniel Farke’s side are currently in the bottom three after getting beat 3-2 by Manchester City on Saturday.
The midfielder has faced Liverpool twice in his career, losing both teams back in the 2020-21 season when the Reds beat Sheffield United 2-1 at Anfield and 2-0 at Bramall Lane.
