Who is this guy?: Austin Butler wasn’t really familiar with Collin Gillespie’s game

Austin Butler, one of the biggest young stars in Hollywood, had a quizzical look on his face as he watched Collin Gillespie dice up the Los Angeles Lakers courtside in a 125-108 Phoenix Suns win on Monday night.

Gillespie practically couldn’t miss for most of the game on his way to a career-most 28 points and eight made 3s.

He was a two-way player last season, so one can cut Butler some slack for not being too familiar with Gillespie’s ability.

Other than sliding perfectly into the famous Shaq quote that was born in 2021 with former Houston Rocket Christian Wood as the casualty, Butler’s priceless reaction caught on Peacock’s exclusive broadcast sets up to be a ripe meme template.

Gillespie, who started in place of Grayson Allen due to pregame illness, upped his streak of double-digit scoring games to 10, with four of those being at least 20 points strong.

Besides the obvious positive trend in his budding craft, the guard had also just hit six 3s against the NBA-best Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday in a tightly contested game and has shot above 40% while making at least three triples in his last eight games.

Jalen Green’s continued absence — now at 12 straight games — may have something to do with Gillespie tapping into his potential but coach Jordan Ott has said confidence isn’t something he is short on.

He was dubbed “Villain Jr.” by the Villain Dillon Brooks himself for a reason late in the preseason, and now he seems to have fully embodied it.

Mr. Butler, you have the right to be impressed. And so does a national crowd as well.
