Enzo Fernandez shares the one area of his game he wants to refine at Chelsea

Enzo Fernandez is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, and the Chelsea star has shown that this season.

He has been excellent for Enzo Maresca’s side in the current campaign, scoring four goals in the top flight.

Fernandez has also shone in the Champions League, netting one goal in that competition.

Should Chelsea sell Enzo Fernandez to buy Elliot Anderson?

Nevertheless, the 24-year-old still thinks he can improve and has shared where.

Enzo Fernandez wants to improve his long shots

As he has shown this season, Fernandez is definitely doing better in front of goal. However, the Argentine thinks he needs to score more from outside the box.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, he said: “Under previous managers, I was more of a number six. Under Enzo Maresca, I’m playing further forward, so I’m scoring goals and getting assists. It’s a position where I’m on the ball less, but I’m more dangerous in front of goal.

“In terms of where I think I can improve, I’d say my shot from outside the box because I feel I have it in the locker, but there’s certainly room for improvement.”

Because of Moises Caicedo’s red card, the Argentina international could not offer much offensively in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal last weekend.

He still put in a very combative performance, though. There was one moment during the game where Fernandez celebrated right in Noni Madueke’s face after tackling the former Chelsea player.

It is a scene that the Chelsea supporters would have loved as they gave Madueke a frosty reception.

How many goals has Enzo Fernandez scored for Chelsea?

After netting five times this season, Fernandez has now scored 21 goals for Chelsea in all competitions since arriving from Benfica in 2023.

Last term, the World Cup winner scored nine goals, a figure he should be able to surpass in the current campaign after his fine start to it.

As well as scoring goals, Fernandez has also been creating chances for Chelsea. The former Benfica man only has one assist in the Premier League this season so far, but he is making 1.8 key passes per game. It is the second-highest average in Maresca’s squad, according to WhoScored.

All in all, Fernandez is an amazing midfielder whose attacking game has really improved over the last year or so.

Fernandez has been helped by Maresca’s decision to play him further forward, but the Chelsea man still has to put the ball into the back of the net, which he has been doing.
