AFCB Have A Good Home Record Against Everton
After recent poor away results, losing the last three games and conceding 10 goals, the Cherries are back on home soil, where the results have been more favourable. Unbeaten now in all six home games, our side will be looking to get back to winning ways.

Our next game is an evening home game at Dean Court on Tuesday, 2nd December at 7.30 pm, our opponents are Everton, and it’s on Sky. The Cherries are unbeaten at home in the eight Premier League games we have played at Dean Court against Everton. AFCB won the last four games.
Andoni Iraola and David Moyes have only met twice as managers in the league, Moyes when he was at West Ham. Both the home and away games were 1-1 draws. In the FA Cup 4th Round game played between Everton and AFCB in February this year at Goodison Park, Andoni Iraola’s side beat David Moyes’ Everton team 0-2. This was the last FA Cup game played at Goodison Park.
Everton have won two, drawn one and lost three of their away games this season. They beat Wolves 2-3 and Manchester United 0-1 in their last away game. The draw was against our last opponents, Sunderland, and it finished 1-1. The first defeat was the opening game of the season at Elland Road against Leeds United, ending 1-0. Lost 2-1 in the local derby against Liverpool and 2-0 to Manchester City.
At home, they won their first game of the season at their brand new stadium on the banks of the River Mersey, beating Brighton 2-0. The other two wins were 2-1 against Crystal Palace and 2-0 against Fulham. They drew 0-0 with Aston Villa and 1-1 against David Moyes’ old club, West Ham. Everton lost 0-3 against Spurs and in the most recent game against Newcastle United 1-4.
The last time we met Everton in the Premier League at home at Dean Court was in January last season. There was only one goal in the game, and it came in the 77th minute with David Brooks scoring. It turned out to be Sean Dyche’s last game as Everton manager.
In all our home league games against Everton, AFCB have W 6, D 2, L 0.
All competitions against Everton, AFCB have W 10, D 2, L 10.
AFCB Team News
Ben Gannon-Doak and Ryan Christie are out injured. Marcos Senesi, Lewis Cook and David Brooks are suspended.
AFCB Player To Watch
Antoine Semenyo was so close to getting a goal against Sunderland, and he is our main threat at the moment. After watching the Everton v Newcastle United game, I think Semenyo could give the Everton defence a lot of problems. Tyler Adams has been playing well in midfield and scored twice in our last four games.
Everton Team News
Idrissa Gueye is suspended. Seamus Coleman, Jarred Branthwaite, Merlin Rohl and Nathan Patterson have been out injured.
Everton Player To Watch
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been their form player recently. In his last three games, he has scored 2 goals and had 1 assist. He is their second leading scorer with 3 goals and has 2 assists.
The Referee
Michael Salisbury is in charge of this game. He was in charge of our League Cup game against Brentford in August.

I’ve looked at the last 4 league games for Everton. They had two home games (Fulham and Newcastle) and two away games (Sunderland and Newcastle). Everton have gained 7 points, although xG suggests this is more than deserved. The xG value for goals scored is 3.53, compared with 5 actual goals; Everton have conceded 5 goals with xGc estimating 5.24 goals, so they have been over-performing in contrast to AFCB.
Goals Xg.jpg
Everton have had 4 different goal scorers (Dewbury-Hall has two goals). Four players have one assist each.
The average positions of the starting line-ups are below. There appears to be no clear pattern, and in one away game (Man U), Everton went down to 10 men fairly early on.

The following plot compares the summary stats of Everton and AFCB over the last 4 games.
AFCB have had many more attempts, big chances and a higher xG, although goals scored are equal. AFCB have better less goal attempts conceded, fewer big chances conceded, and a slightly higher xGc, although they have conceded many more goals. The underperforming of xG by 3.08 and underperforming of xGc by 6.16 provide a good explanation of AFCB’s recent point returns.
Comparison.png
Everton have had 42% possession compared with AFCB’s 58%. The pass completion percentages are slightly in AFCB’s favour. Everton have been creating a higher proportion of chances from set pieces than AFCB and conceding a lower proportion of chances from set plays, so they appear to be well-drilled from dead-ball situations (as were Sunderland).

This one has to be a win.
Hopefully, those who are given the chance to play due to injury or suspension stake their claims.
We are very light on CB options, and that comes down to recruitment.
We basically have 3 CBs: Diakite, Senesi and Milo.
That’s not how you cover injuries and suspensions, given 2 are untested at the Pl level and the other one is leaving.
Appreciate everything Foley has done and is doing for the club, but there is a certain imbalance in several critical positions. – To join the conversation, please click here.
