“I’ll pick up the phone” – Director says Chelsea transfer talks on the way

Chelsea signed Aaron Anselmino from River Plate in August 2024 and sent him back on loan for a season. The Blues recalled the centre-back in January, but he ended up playing for only two minutes, mainly due to injury.

Towards the end of August, Borussia Dortmund signed the 20-year-old on a season-long loan deal. He picked up a muscle injury in September and was sidelined for over a month.

On September 29th, Ruhr Nachrichten stated BVB were worried about the Chelsea owned player’s fitness. His situation at the German club started to improve after the October international break.

The defender even scored in Borussia Dortmund’s 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend. After the match, BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl spoke to Ruhr24 and others in the mixed zone about the Argentine.

The Bundesliga side don’t have an option or obligation to buy Anselmino. Their sporting director has now talked about extending Anselmino’s stay at the Signal Iduna Park beyond this season.

“I’ll have to pick up the phone and call them in the next few days. I have a pretty good connection at that club. We hope that he’ll stay on. Of course,” he said.

The South American’s contract at Chelsea is until 2031. Ruhr24 suspect he would struggle for regular minutes with the Blues and believe it’s best for Anselmino to continue at BVB.
