Marco Silva embraces the ‘big challenge’ of competing against Man City

Marco Silva spoke about rallying the troops as Fulham face Man City in midweek.

The Cottagers cracked the code in NorthLondonto defeat **Tottenham**2-1 on Saturday, earning back-to-back wins after a 1-0 triumph over **Sunderland**upon the return from the international break. Now, they seek to take another stride forward against the club that have dominated the last decade.

“The last – probably – eight, nine, ten years, they’ve been almost always dominating the Premier League, with one or two seasons not winning titles, but most of the time they are competing for the first position and have been very, very, very strong.

“Almost always with the same manager all that period, and a manager that it speaks for himself everything he has done in football so far. And, for me, it's clear – tough game for us against a very good side, but back-to-back wins gives us the confidence that we need before these type of games.

"Under the lights at the Cottage is always something special"

“It's true that it's been a long time for us not getting a good result against City. Under the lights at the Cottage is always something special, against a very, very good side. Let's hope we can change it into our favour tomorrow.”

“My speech to the players at the end of the game at Tottenham’s stadium, I mentioned that straightaway. I congratulated them for the three points, the way we achieved the back-to-back to wins, the way we break that bad feeling about not winning away from home.

“And my last words with them was about our recent record against City, and how it’s an opportunity for us to change it, and play for it. Every time you go inside the pitch to play a football match, our aim is to win the game, and it's not going to be different tomorrow night.

“Let's go for it – big challenge for us, a challenge that we want to face, and we want to go in a direction that gives us the conditions to fight and to take the three points.”
