Darwin Nunez is reportedly looking for a way out of Saudi Arabia despite being on £20million a year and only leaving Liverpool just months ago.

The Uruguayan striker moved to Al-Hilal over the summer following Liverpool's Premier League triumph. Various reports indicate the 26-year-old is looking to leave the Saudi Pro League, despite finding the net four times in six outings as Al-Hilal sit four points behind Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr.

During Liverpool's recent torrid run, social media rumours have surfaced suggesting the Reds are missing the striker as they navigate a tricky spell as Alexander Isak has struggled since his record-breaking move. Meanwhile, Argentinian outlet Ole has revealed South American giants River Plate have set aside money in their salary budget for Nunez ahead of the 2026 season.

Boss Marcelo Gallardo is planning a squad rebuild, and the manager is reportedly "keen" on securing the former Liverpool ace. The publication claims they have already 'contacted' Nunez, who is determined to quit Al-Hilal.

Despite an encouraging start in Saudi Arabia, which has also seen him register two assists for his teammates, Nunez is thought to be weighing up his options. This comes after a series of social media updates showing the 26-year-old embracing his new surroundings following a money-spinning move to Saudi Arabia.

Six weeks ago, Nunez posted a series of photos on Instagram, including an action shot of him celebrating a goal, captioned: "Back at it [blue heart emoji]."

Seven weeks earlier, he had shared another set of images, boldly stating: "This is just the beginning."

Nunez's time at Liverpool has been a topic of debate following his costly move from Benfica. The Uruguayan striker had his moments of glory for the Reds, especially during their title-winning season under Arne Slot.
