Everton boss David Moyes can be left happy with his summer transfer business – but one failed transfer will have him jealous of his Premier League rivals.
Upon their move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, the summer transfer window handed Everton an opportunity to massively strengthen their playing squad.
David Moyes will be overjoyed with some of his additions, with Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in particular playing extremely well under the Toffees gaffer in recent weeks.
But the Scot has admitted that he missed out on Newcastle star Jacob Ramsey – with the former Aston Villa midfielder turning Everton down in favour of a move to Tyneside, which led Moyes to admit the gulf of Newcastle’s financial power.

David Moyes confirms Jacob Ramsey turned Everton down in the summer
With Everton searching for incomings ahead of their move to their new 52,769-capacity stadium in the summer, Moyes had admitted that Jacob Ramsey snubbed a move to Merseyside in order to sign for Champions League outfit Newcastle United.
The Toffees boss admitted on Monday, when reflecting on the defeat to the Magpies: “He chose not to come.
“He was one of that group and if you look at their subs – Sandro Tonali didn’t start for them. They have a really strong team and beating Manchester City gives you an idea of where they are at.”

“Their owners have backed the club and they have had some financial problems as well, watching that they don’t spend too much, but they have attracted some brilliant players to Newcastle. It has given them a chance of being really competitive.”
Despite featuring for Newcastle in 10 games this season, including three starts in all competitions, Ramsey hasn’t recorded a goal contribution just yet for Eddie Howe’s men. That shows their strength in depth, and it does pose questions to Moyes’ comments with that jealousy as to their quality going forwards.
Jacob Ramsey may not have had as big an impact as David Moyes would have hoped
Although Jacob Ramsey has plenty of Premier League experience, his arrival may not have gone as well as first imagined had he made the move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Jack Grealish has been the star for Everton on the left-flank, where Ramsey has featured quite a bit for Aston Villa down the years, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been incredible for the Toffees ever since his summer move from Chelsea.
Who is the best loan signing Everton have ever made?
“We might be looking at the loan market again and seeing what we need.
“Certainly, the people who do the job are working behind the scenes to see what might be possible.”

Iliman Ndiaye is practically undroppable on the right-hand side, and that has seen the likes of Dwight McNeil, Carlos Alcaraz and Tyler Dibling massively struggle for minutes on Merseyside this season.
Ramsey hasn’t shown anything at Newcastle to prove that he would have burst ahead of any of the trio this season, and so perhaps his failed transfer is a dodged bullet from David Moyes.
