Mikel Arteta issues three Arsenal injury updates as William Saliba timeline emerges

Mikel Arteta has suggested that William Saliba is unlikely to feature in Arsenal's fixture against Brentford following the injury that ruled him out of the draw at Chelsea. The defender made the trip to Stamford Bridge with the Gunners but was unable to take part for the Premier League leaders.

Providing an update on the 24-year-old in Tuesday's press conference, Arteta explained: "I am not going to be able to help you much today as we have another training session. He had a little niggle but I think it's going to be a matter of days."

Leandro Trossard may also be unavailable for the match against the Bees after the calf issue that saw him substituted during the first half of the Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich.

The Belgian underwent additional tests on Friday and Arteta said he was 'a matter of days' from rejoining the Arsenal squad.

Meanwhile, the Gunners manager also revealed that Kai Havertz was 'a matter of weeks' from making his comeback following his minor knee surgery in August.

Previously, Arteta had indicated the German had a slim possibility of being ready to face his former side Chelsea.

The Spanish manager also gave a further update on Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes, who is presently sidelined with a thigh problem.

Arteta said of the Brazilian: "He's doing very well but that's weeks as well."

Viktor Gyokeres is anticipated to be available for selection against Keith Andrews' team on Wednesday night at the Emirates Stadium.

The Swedish forward made his comeback from the bench on Sunday at Chelsea, following a muscle problem incurred in the victory over Burnley last month.

Martin Odegaard is also back in form after making an appearance from the bench against Bayern Munich and the Blues.

He could now be poised to start his first match since early October, when he picked up a knee ligament injury in the win over West Ham.
