Opinion: West Ham fans will surely be enraged as footage emerges showcasing double standards

West Ham fans will surely not be pleased as footage of El Hadji Mallick Diouf has emerged in the aftermath of the Liverpool game.

Liverpool beat West Ham 2-0 in a match that was filled with controversial incidents and talking points.

Lucas Paqueta’s sending off made headlines from the Hammers side of things and he will now be ruled out of Thursday’s game against Manchester United.

Darren England was the referee for the game against Liverpool and made some surprising calls against the Hammers.

Soungoutou Magassa timed his challenge on Dominik Szoboszlai perfectly and even won the ball, but England handed him a yellow card for it.

This looked like it was him making up for not giving Liverpool a foul for Magassa’s challenge on Ryan Gravenberch in the first half.

However, what was even more baffling was the fact that no foul was given for Ibrahima Konate’s clear foul on Diouf.

A West Ham United fan captured footage of the incident showing Konate using both his hands to push the full-back to the ground.

Not only was a yellow card not given, but England did not blow his whistle, and none of his assistants told him that an obvious foul had been committed.

Hammers fans have every right to be fuming as these were clear double standards that potentially cost their side a point.

West Ham learn match officials for Manchester United clash

After England’s subpar officiating, West Ham will surely want a better referee for the game against Manchester United.

The Premier League announced that Andrew Kitchen will be in charge against Ruben Amorim’s side.

Kitchen was the referee in the 1-1 draw against Southampton last season and disallowed Niclas Fullkrug’s goal, much to the Germany international’s annoyance.

He will be hoping that he makes better decisions this week and it remains to be seen whether or not Nuno Espirito Santo gives Fullkrug any game time.

The Portuguese has decisions to make as he’ll be without Lucas Paqueta and potentially Crysencio Summerville, both of whom make his strongest eleven.
