Report: David Moyes is open to letting three Everton players leave in January

Everton’s squad depth issues were on display for all to see at the weekend during their 4-1 loss against Newcastle United.

David Moyes has quickly seen his options depleted as a result of some injury and suspension setbacks.

However, that does not mean players will not be leaving Everton in January when the market opens for business.

Everton News understands that Everton are keen to sign a striker and full-back next month to really bolster their options.

A lot of business was done over the summer in The Friedkin Group’s first summer window at the club.

More is needed over January, but it is apparent that some players could be let go to make room for some fresh faces on Merseyside.

Everton ready to offload three players in January

Everton News columnist Alan Myers is crying out for Everton to sign a new full-back, with their current options leaving a lot to be desired.

Adam Aznou was signed from Bayern Munich earlier in the year and he has not played a single minute of football in the Premier League.

Everton are open to loaning out Aznou for the youngster to secure some more regular minutes away from the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Young goalkeeper Harry Tyrer could also leave the club in January, with Everton open to either a loan or permanent departure.

Nathan Patterson almost left Everton over the summer in a deal to join Sevilla which eventually fell through.

Everton are also expected to make Patterson available next month.

Despite being light in the full-back areas, it seems apparent Everton are willing to let some of their squad options depart.

This is a clear indication of where the recruitment focus is being pushed towards ahead of the window opening.

Everton are in desperate need of attack-minded full-backs

Moyes has demanded more from his full-backs in an attacking sense already this season.

Through the opening 13 games of the season, neither Jake O’Brien nor Vitalii Mykolenko has returned a single goal or assist.

James Garner has shared Moyes’ expectations of his full-backs having seen O’Brien dropped recently against Fulham.

However, the midfield crisis has forced Garner back into his natural position, with Everton’s full-back issues on display again.

Who is the best loan signing Everton have ever made?

“We might be looking at the loan market again and seeing what we need.

“Certainly, the people who do the job are working behind the scenes to see what might be possible.”

As Iliman Ndiaye prepares to jet off for the Africa Cup of Nations, the rest of the side is going to need to step their game up a notch.

Creativity from the full-backs in attack would be a huge boost for Moyes, with his current options simply not capable of providing that threat.
