Chelsea and Barcelona will have to fork out €15 million to sign Brazilian defensive sensation Souza.
Chelsea and Barcelona are two clubs that are constantly looking out for young players with massive potential, and they seem to have spotted a sensational talent in Brazil. Now, they are keen on bringing him to Europe in the near future.
The European giants have their eyes set on Santos’ 19-year-old full-back Souza, and they are ready to make an offer in the coming weeks. According to a report from Fichajes, Chelsea and Barcelona will have to pay €15 million to get a deal over the line.
Souza has been a part of the Santos setup since his childhood days. He went up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to their first team at the start of 2024.
The young left-back has only gone from strength to strength since, and has established himself as an important first-team player. He has been involved in a total of 36 matches for the senior side and has contributed towards five goals.
His performances have attracted a lot of attention. While his contract at Santos runs until the end of 2028, he is unlikely to be around for long. The 19-year-old could be on the move for €15 million, which seems a bit on the higher side given he has little experience at the highest level.
Chelsea are keen on signing Barcelona defensive target
Chelsea are one of the clubs that are very keen on his signature. The Blues’ transfer policy revolves around signing the best young talents, and they believe Souza has the potential to be a special player. As a result, the price tag won’t be a problem for them.
The London club believe in getting ahead of the market and signing young talents before their value skyrockets. If the Blues manage to secure his services, they could look to send him out on loan to Strasbourg, their sister club in France, to ensure he gets regular game time.
Chelsea are not alone in the race, and they could face stiff competition from Barcelona, who have been keeping tabs on the 19-year-old for some time. They have already enquired about his availability. While they do not have the best of financial situations, the lure of playing for the Spanish giants can certainly make Souza think twice.
