Victor Wembanyama has been out for the last few weeks for the San Antonio Spurs.
It's obviously a big absence. The gargantuan, positionless superstar is one of the best basketball players on the planet and the guy everything with the Spurs depends on.
Without him, the Spurs are just a so-so basketball team. With Wemby, they can beat anyone on any night.
Wembanyama's left calf strain was confirmed on Nov. 14. As the calendar has turned to December, the big fella still hasn't gotten back on the court.

Spurs beat reporter Jeff McDonald shared this potential injury return timeline on Monday:
My (semi-informed) guess:
If I have to bet my house on Wemby returning for NBA Cup week, I'd bet against.
If I have to bet on Wemby being back by Christmas, I think it's a stone-cold lock.
Best bet is somewhere in between those two tentpoles. https://t.co/KCvVJq6TZk

So it could still be a couple weeks away, but it seems like Wembanyama must be progressing and won't be out for too much longer.
Before getting hurt, Wemby was averaging 26.2 points, 14.9 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. He was shooting 50.2% from the floor, 34.5% from 3-point range and 85.7% from the foul line.
He's also averaging 3.6 blocks and 1.1 steals per game on the season.
It's hard to know for sure how injuries might impact a body as unique as Wembanyama's, but the good news is that he appears to be on the comeback trail and the Spurs will get to appreciate his greatness again soon.
