Chelsea‘could’ go and sign £65m attacker in January, they know a deal is doable - journalist

Chelsea are reaping the rewards of their recent summer transfer window, with a number of their additions making an impact on the first team squad.

The standout signing so far has been Estevao Willian, who is already looking as if he could be one of the best players in the squad in the coming years.

There have been some other impressive additions too. Joao Pedro was just named in the Team of the Month for November, while Alejandro Garnacho is starting to prove some of his doubters wrong at Stamford Bridge.

Who is Chelsea’s best winger?

Despite also bringing in Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens in attack, it would take a brave individual to rule them out of the biggest transfer sagas when the window opens again in January.

Chelsea could sign Antoine Semenyo in January

One of those which could be about to play out is regarding Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo. He currently has six goals and three assists to his name this season.

With a number of big Premier League sides linked to the attacker, Mark Ogden has told ‘The Football Reporters‘ that he wouldn’t rule Chelsea out of completing the move for his release clause of £65m.

He said: “Now, they are pretty overloaded with forwards, but I wouldn’t rule out Chelsea moving for a forward. I mean, I wouldn’t rule them out of the Antoine Semenyo situation. He’s got a £65 million release clause at Bournemouth.

“I don’t think Chelsea are the frontrunners, I think you’re looking at Man City and Liverpool, but Chelsea know a deal can be done and they could get it done.”

Why Chelsea may actually avoid Semenyo signing

Chelsea already have plenty of quality in the wide areas, and it feels unlikely that they will spend this kind of money on another option.

With the Blues’ plans to bring in young players before their elite rivals, Chelsea secured the highly-touted Geovany Quenda ahead of Manchester United.

Quenda will join at the end of the season, and the Blues are planning to use him as a winger despite experience in the wing-back role.

Semenyo has certainly impressed though, and will be looking to make an impact against Chelsea when the two sides meet at the weekend at the Vitality Stadium.
