Former Chelsea forward Jeremie Boga is determined to leave Nice after a run-in with fans at the club's training ground, it has been claimed. Reports from France indicate Boga and team-mate Terem Moffi were met by approximately 400 fans, who are said to have kicked and spat at the pair.

Boga, who came through Chelsea's academy and played once in the Premier League under Antonio Conte, has played more than 70 times for his current club since joining from Atalanta in 2023. He was reportedly targeted after inviting Marseille fans into Nice's Allianz Riviera Stadium for the recent defeat against Roberto De Zerbi's side - something for which he has apologised.

According to RMC Sport, both Boga and Moffi have been placed on sick leave after the incident, which came after a league defeat to Lorient. However, neither is believed to want to play for the club again.

“On Sunday, on their return from Lorient, the Eaglets were welcomed at the training ground by an important gathering," Nice said in a statement/ “The club understands the frustration created by the succession of poor displays and performances far from its values.

"However, the excesses we saw during this gathering are unacceptable. A few members of the club have been attacked. OGC Nice give them its full support and condemn these acts with the highest toughness.”

On Monday, ESPN reported that two Nice fans attempted to confront players on the team bus after they returned from the Lorient game. An unnamed player queried the lack of help from security, telling the same publication "How can they not protect us more? It was unbelievable and scary,"

Nice, who finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season, sit 10th in Ligue 1 after losing their last four on the spin. They are also the only team without a single point in the Europa League, losing all five of their league phase fixtures.

Boga, 28, faces a wait to learn whether he will be given a break from club duty at the Africa Cup of Nations. He was part of the Ivorian side which won the last edition of the tournament on home soil, but hasn't featured for Emerse Fae's national team since June and will learn later this month if he will be recalled for the continental competition.

Nigeria striker Moffi is another facing an anxious wait ahead of AFCON. The 26-year-old played for the Super Eagles in the October international break but was left out by Eric Chelle in November as the national team lost its World Cup qualification play-off against DR Congo to end their qualification dreams.
