Everton now looking at signing a player who admitted he used to wear Liverpool kits growing up

Everton’s ideal XI would be an entire team of Toffees fans, if the opportunity was to spring up – but one transfer target has revealed that the first kit he ever wore growing up was of local rivals Liverpool.

Everton have had various youth talents come through their ranks as boyhood Blues, with Ross Barkley, Wayne Rooney and Leighton Baines being fans of the club from a young age, amongst others.

There are the occasional players who slip through the net, with former winger Anthony Gordon admittedly being a Liverpool supporter, despite bursting onto the scene at Goodison Park.

However, there is another former star who has been touted who admitted he donned the red shirt when he was a youngster – with Antonee Robinson making the cut as a former Liverpool fan.

Former Everton starlet Antonee Robinson makes Liverpool admission

Antonee Robinson came through Everton’s ranks as a youngster, joining the club as an 11-year-old and signing his professional contract in 2015.

Although he didn’t make a first-team appearance for the Toffees, he was loaned out to the Championship, eventually signing a long-term deal with Wigan Athletic.

Just one season in Greater Manchester saw him join Fulham, where he’s gone on to make almost 140 Premier League appearances.

If you were David Moyes, which three players would you want to sign in January?

And it was in Cottagers training where Robinson admitted he used to wear Liverpool’s shirt as a kid. He said, via the official Fulham X channel:

“I’m thinking about like family album photos, there are pictures of me when I was really little wearing Liverpool kits.

“That’s where I’m from, but the first one I remember is Real Madrid.”

Robinson has been linked with a blue return to Merseyside in recent times and fans will be hoping that he can put his former Red persuasion aside.

Antonee Robinson would be the perfect signing for Everton

Everton were linked with Antonee Robinson earlier in the week, despite his season being dogged by knee injuries.

Robinson has been one of the most consistent players in the Premier League over the past few seasons, registering six assists in the 2023-24 campaign, as well as 10 last season in just 36 matches, touting him for the Team of the Season.

He’d be an upgrade on Mykolenko…

It makes ideal sense for David Moyes to sign him. Vitaliy Mykolenko’s contract is up at the end of the season, and with summer signing Adam Aznou so far failing to feature for the first-team, Robinson’s experience would be vital.

Everton have longed for an attacking left-back since Lucas Digne departed for Aston Villa and Robinson could be the perfect tonic.
