Liverpool have two top quality goalkeepers who are both good enough to be first choice.
The Reds have not always been blessed in the goalkeeping department, although ever since they signed Alisson in 2018, they have had no issues whatsoever.
He has developed into one of, if not the best, goalkeepers in the world, with his only issue being his injury record.

Liverpool seem to have coped fairly well in his absence, however, with Caoimhin Kelleher stepping up in the past, with Giorgi Mamardashvili now doing the same.

Many fans were wondering what would happen next season in this department due to Alisson now being 33 and having less than a year left on his contract, but it appears clear who will be their number one.

There were rumours that Alisson may have been leaving in the summer, but these were put to bed fairly swiftly.
With Mamardashvili coming in, though, it left the future of Liverpool’s goalkeeping position a little uncertain as he proved he was far too good to be a backup option during his time in Spain.

This could give Arne Slot a bit of a headache going forward, but especially next season, although if he is still in charge, it looks like Alisson will still be first choice.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool are expected to take up their one-year option in Alisson’s contract, meaning it will be valid until 2027.
This suggests that he still very much remains in their plans, which is understandable given how influential he is, but it does mean Mamardashvili might have to wait another year to get his regular chance.
Liverpool could still sell Alisson
It seems a no brainer to trigger that option in his contract, but that does not mean it is for the purposes of keeping him around.
Losing him for nothing is, of course, far from ideal, and with the Brazilian likely not to be short of options, Liverpool could cash in on him for at least a little bit of money.

However, there is no rush for Mamardashvili as he is still only 25, with this being very young for a goalkeeper and means he could have another 10 years in him.
What happens will not be known until at least the summer, but if this is Alisson’s last season at the club, then Liverpool fans need to enjoy every last second of him.
