West Ham should ‘replace’ injury prone Summerville with Chelsea star

West Ham United simply have to bring in a left winger in January to help them stay in the Premier League.

When the West Ham front three of Summerville, Wilson and Bowen is fit, it’s more than enough to keep us up this season.

But the harsh reality of that is that it never is. Jarrod Bowen rarely misses a game through injury, Wilson hasn’t as of yet for the Hammers but will likely pick up injuries before the end of the season.

The biggest problem in our attack is the fitness of Crysencio Summerville. The Dutchman has missed 25 matches through injury since arriving at the club last summer, more matches than he’s actually started for the Hammers.

The 24-year-old will miss his 26th match on Thursday as he has been ruled out of the trip to face Manchester United at Old Trafford .

Nuno said: “Crysencio Summerville won’t make the squad. We’re still assessing him and the game is too soon for him.”

Summerville is an excellent player and if he could get a run of games together he could be a dangerous asset for us. However, the harsh reality is that he can’t, and to be fair, I think he’s more impactful as a bench player anyway.

Those two factors show and the fact Luis Guilherme is yet to show he’s good enough shows just how much we need a wide man in January to help us in our bid for Premier League survival.

The only winger we’re really been linked with so far is Adama Traore, and while I’d like that signing because he has tonnes of pace and has a great relationship with Nuno. Adama is primarily a right sided player, we need someone thats going to come in and make that left side their own. The Spaniard unfortunately isn’t the man to do that.

I’d love to see us go for Tyrique George of Chelsea. The 19-year-old Englishman has looked really good in his limited minutes for Chelsea and is reportedly available for transfer.

He might not the experienced head we ‘need’ for a relegation battle, but to be honest I don’t think that’s what our attack is crying out for. Our attack needs more youth and hunger, the experience is needed further down the pitch in defence and midfield. George would be a great signing for West Ham.
