Opinion: Everton could solve their midfield woes by offering Sean Dyche signing a return in…

Everton have some clear needs for the January transfer window and there is one former Toffee who could solve one of their needs.

After a busy summer, Everton now find themselves wishing the weeks away for the January window to open for business.

David Moyes was delighted with Everton’s transfer work over the summer, but there was still plenty left unfixed.

Not everything was going to be resolved in just one window, but The Friedkin Group look ready to back their manager once again.

Everton News columnist Alan Myers would like to see Everton sign a midfielder on the back of Merlin Rohl’s latest injury setback.

There is one former Everton player who could be the perfect addition following what Moyes has said in recent hours.

David Moyes expects Everton to add loan signings in January

Everton signed Jack Grealish on loan over the summer in a statement addition for the Toffees under the Friedkins.

It has been a mixed bag of loan signings, with Merlin Rohl sidelined through injury once again, but that won’t put Everton off in January.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Moyes provided an insight to the plans back at Finch Farm ahead of the January window.

“I’d be hoping we would be looking to do some business if we can. January is never a great window when trying to get the right value and the right players who you might want, but I think if we could add to it we certainly will,” said the 62-year-old.

Who is the best loan signing Everton have ever made?

“We might be looking at the loan market again and seeing what we need.

“Certainly, the people who do the job are working behind the scenes to see what might be possible.”

“We didn’t do it last January – we just had Charly Alcaraz come in on loan. We might be looking at the loan market again and seeing what we need.

“Certainly, the people who do the job are working behind the scenes to see what might be possible.”

With Rohl injured and Idrissa Gana Gueye leaving for AFCON later this month, Everton are going to need to address their midfield options.

Harrison Armstrong could be recalled to Everton, but there is another midfielder who was playing for Everton last season that could also be an option.

Everton could offer Orel Mangala a loan return to Merseyside

Orel Mangala’s Everton career ended through injury last season, after suffering a knee issue against Brighton & Hove Albion just months after Sean Dyche signed him on loan.

Micah Richards was impressed with Mangala during his time at Everton, but fans only saw him play 19 times in the Premier League.

The Belgian midfielder has now made his return to football almost a full year on from suffering that injury on the south coast.

Mangala featured as a late substitute for Lyon at the weekend in their comfortable victory over Nantes.

With around a month to boost his match fitness levels, Mangala returning to Merseyside could make sense for the second half of the season.

Everton fans were delighted with Mangala’s performances, with only injury cutting his time short.

Another midfielder is needed and Mangala has already shown he can cut it in the Premier League.
