Liverpool v Sunderland live commentary: Kick-off time, team news and where to watch

Liverpool will look to prove their win on Sunday wasn't a one-off as they take on the high-flying Sunderland at Anfield on Wednesday.

Arne Slot's side picked up just their second victory from their last eight league fixtures courtesy of a 2-0 scoreline against West Ham.

Alexander Isak got on the scoresheet on Sunday in what was his first league goal for the Reds and all connected with the club hope it's the start of a goalscoring streak.

However, Sunderland have proved tricky customers for every opponent this season as they remain the league's biggest surprise package to date.

A stunning come-from-behind 3-2 win over Bournemouth on Saturday meant the Black Cats ended the weekend in sixth.

Having avoided defeats against the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal already, Sunderland will look to take points off yet another English powerhouse.

Liverpool vs Sunderland: Team news

Slot confirmed Conor Bradley is back training, but Wednesday's clash is expected to come too soon.

Jeremie Frimpong is another who won't feature against Sunderland as Slot declared the right-back will be out for an additional three games.

As for Isak, Florian Wirtz and Joe Gomez, Slot said the trio cannot play the full 90 minutes three times a week just yet.

Slot was also noncommittal on whether the trio would start against Sunderland, but said it would be a 'fair assumption' to make that all three will be involved in some capacity provided they get through training unscathed.

As for Sunderland, they have no new absentees following the Bournemouth win.

Liverpool vs Sunderland: What has been said?

Given Sunderland drew with Arsenal and beat Chelsea, Slot is under no illusions about the challenge which awaits his side on Wednesday.

"You can look at the league table to know they're doing well, but those two results [against Chelsea and Arsenal] show it," Slot said.

"They are resilient. They have shown great mentality but the style they play and risks they take when not having ball, very high-paced game and players work so hard to get a result. A very hard-working team with a very clear identity."

Slot also praised Mohamed Salah for the way he handled being dropped for the 2-0 win over West Ham.

"Of course, a player isn't happy he isn't playing, he wasn't the only one I can tell you," Slot said.

"The way he behaved was as you would expect from the professional he is, he was very supportive for his teammates and handled himself really well."

On the other side of the fixture, Black Cats boss Regis Le Bris knows his side cannot rest on their laurels against a Liverpool side who have looked far from their best in recent months.
