Jurgen Klopp influence sparks major twist in Leeds United’s managerial search

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stepped into the search for a new manager to replace Daniel Farke at Leeds United this season.

Farke is under pressure at Leeds after losing six of the last seven league games. Two home defeats against Chelsea and Liverpool in the next few days could bring down the curtains on his time at Elland Road.

Leeds have been ramping up their search for a new manager as the 49ers get to work on deciding who could succeed the German at the helm in the middle of the season.

Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou have emerged as top contenders to replace Farke. However, Klopp has now stepped in with his own recommendation for the Whites.

Jurgen Klopp advises Leeds United to hire Zsolt Low

The 46-year-old Hungarian coach does not have the experience of managing a team, barring his interim role at RB Leipzig last season.

However, he is a coach with a good reputation who has assisted Adi Hutter and Ralf Rangnick before working under Thomas Tuchel at Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

Low has a good reputation in Germany as a talented young coach and is rated by the Red Bull Group, who are headed by former Liverpool manager Klopp.

According to TEAMTalk, the Red Bull group and Klopp have recommended Leeds to add Low to their shortlist of managers they are looking at as Farke’s replacement.

Red Bull are minority partners at Leeds and do not have the power to make decisions. However, they are ready to offer names to the 49ers.

They have a massive football operation spanning continents, and Leeds want to draw from their wealth of knowledge about players and coaches.

Low is a name Red Bull likes, and have asked Leed to consider appointing him as their new manager.

Leeds will be worried about his lack of experience

Leeds sit in the relegation zone, and their sole mission is to ensure that they are still a Premier League team at the end of the season.

The Whites are considering names such as Gary O’Neil, who are experienced in the Premier League and the fight for survival, with Rodgers and Postecoglou also under consideration.

They all have Premier League experience, which Low clearly lacks. More importantly, the Hungarian has only proven himself as an assistant coach.

Zsolt Lőw’s managerial record: 8 matches, 2 wins, 3 draws, 3 losses, 13 goals scored, 17 conceded, 9 points and 1.13 points per match.

He has little top-level experience of being a head coach, other than his interim role at Leipzig. The 46-year-old would be a high-risk appointment.

Leeds are not in a position to gamble if they sack Farke. Low may turn out to be a good manager in the future, but at this point, the club must look to hire experience over potential.
