Everton confirmed starting XI to face Bournemouth as Tim Iroegbunam decision made

David Moyes has now named his starting XI for Everton’s away trip to face Bournemouth on the south coast.

Everton are in need of a big performance to bounce back from their pitiful display at the weekend at home to Newcastle United.

The games are not getting any easier for Moyes and his men, as they face one of the real surprise packages of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

Andoni Iraola has waxed lyrical about some of Everton’s players, but the Cherries have proven to be a real threat to a lot of Premier League sides already.

Changes were needed on the back of the loss to the Magpies, but Moyes’ options are fairly limited due to injuries and suspensions.

David Moyes has stuck with Tim Iroegbunam! What changes would you make to this team?

David Moyes makes Tim Ioregbunam decision

After starting Tim Iroegbunam in the defeat against Newcastle, Moyes withdrew the 22-year-old midfielder at half time.

During his post-match interviews, Moyes made it clear he wasn’t impressed with Iroegbunam’s display, which put his spot in Tuesday’s starting XI under threat.

However, he made the decision to stick with the 22-year-old, with some big changes being made.

Moyes named Charly Alcaraz and Dwight McNeil as midfield options to potentially replace Idrissa Gana Gueye throughout his suspension and international duty.

James Garner returns to defence

Perhaps the biggest shock was seeing James Garner return to defence, with no Michael Keane in the squad.

Gary Neville was impressed with Garner in midfield against Manchester United, but he has also excelled this season at full-back.

Alcaraz, interestingly, will play alongside Iroegbunam, which offers a real defensive test for the pair to provide some cover for the players behind them.

Some big calls have been made by Moyes, who will be set to share an update on Keane’s absence.
