Boston Celtics fans with a love for the team’s history will be thrilled to learn that Robert Parish has recently launched an X account and has been posting some interesting stuff. On Thanksgiving Day, for instance, Parish revealed his top five point guards of all time. Well, The Chief was back on X on Tuesday, this time to share his top five teammates. All but one of the players on Parish’s list (Sonny Parker) were Celtics teammates (Parker was Parish’s teammate on the Golden State Warriors). As I thought about my time in the NBA, particularly with the Boston Celtics, I reflected about the teammates I felt closest with. And I thought I'd share that here today. Drafted eighth overall by the Warriors out of Centenary College, the 7-foot-1 center honed his craft amid the Pacific Division’s grind, posting 17.2 points and 12.1 rebounds in 1978-79. A pivotal 1980 trade to the Celtics ignited his prime, where he anchored the frontcourt alongside Larry Bird and Kevin McHale. That unstoppable trio powered Boston to NBA titles in 1981, 1984, and 1986, with Parish earning nine All-Star nods and ranking among rebounding leaders eight times.
