Laura Wood left football fans worried when she appeared to collapse live on air.

The incident occurred during coverage of England Women's clash with Ghana, an international friendly that was being played at Southampton's St Mary's Stadium.

Anchoring the show for ITV, Woods suddenly fell forward before being caught by punditry duo Ian Wright and Anita Asante.

The cameras quickly cut away from Woods, with audio briefly continuing as Arsenal legend Wright checked on Woods' wellbeing. The programme then promptly went to an extended ad break.

Following the break, Katie Shanahan stepped in to continue ITV's coverage alongside Wright and Asante.

After stepping in for the popular host, Shanahan provided a brief update to viewers on ITV who had been left concerned by what they'd seen.

She said: "As you have probably noticed, we don't have the wonderful Laura Woods because she's just been taken ill, but she's in very good hands, so I'm stepping in at late notice.

ITV are yet to provide an official update on Woods' wellbeing.

Fans on social media were quick to express their concern for the host's wellbeing. One X user wrote: “Don’t know what happened there with Laura Woods at the coverage of the Lionesses game on ITV4, but hoping she’s ok.”

Meanwhile another said: “Looking forward to the game but hope Laura Woods is okay. Quite a shock to see her collapse like that.”
