Haaland Reaches 100 Premier League Goals in Record Time To Blow Shearer Out the Water

Alan Shearer had held the record for fewest games to score 100 Premier League goals since 1995. Erling Haaland has now taken it for himself in 13 fewer matches.

Erling Haaland became the fastest player to reach 100 Premier League goals with the opener in Manchester City’s trip to Fulham on Tuesday.

Haaland went into the game with 99 goals from 110 appearances in the Premier League, meaning time was on his side given previous record holder Alan Shearer reached his century in 124 outings.

The City star might have hit the milestone a few games earlier against Liverpool before the international break, but a saved penalty meant he had to make do with just the single goal in that 3-0 win. He then failed to find the net in successive games against Newcastle and Leeds.

But the Norwegian sharpshooter continued his immense start to the 2025-26 season at Craven Cottage on Tuesday, getting his 100th goal in his 111th Premier League appearance to take this particular record from Shearer.

Erling Haaland - Fastest to 100 Premier League goals

After a couple of quiet games, Haaland looked in the mood on Tuesday, hitting the post early on before getting his landmark goal in the 17th minute.

Jérémy Doku played in a precise low cross from the left and Haaland struck it first time, picking out the top-left corner in emphatic fashion. It was a goal befitting its significance.

As remarkable an achievement as this is for Haaland, rarely has there been a point in his Premier League career that such an accomplishment looked beyond him.

After all, he reached 50 Premier League goals quicker than any other player in the competition’s history, needing only 48 games to bring up his half-century.

He managed that in 17 fewer games than the previous record holder, Andrew Cole, so the fact he’s got to 100 goals 13 matches quicker than Shearer seems about right.

Nevertheless, that also highlights a truly astonishing level of consistency over his first three-and-a-bit seasons in the Premier League, with both records now his.

Haaland’s record-breaking goal on Tuesday took him to 15 for the season already, comfortably more than any other player this term.

In fact, given that goal moved him to 23 in all competitions for 2025-26, he’s – incredibly – just eight off his total for last season (31).

Haaland’s opener also puts him on track to score 40.7 goals in the Premier League season; you obviously can’t score 0.7 of a goal, so let’s call it 41.

He’s well on course to smash his own record for most goals in a single Premier League campaign, the 36 he netted in 2022-23.

In short, Haaland is on a legendary trajectory. It’s no longer that sensationalist to suggest Shearer’s all-time record for Premier League goals (260) looks to be well within his reach if he stays in England.
