Mariona Caldentey has won the UEFA Women's Nations League with Spain for the second time, after La Rojas thrashed Germany 3-0 to complete the defence of their title.
With the aggregate score level after a 0-0 draw in Germany, Spain made home advantage count in Madrid, with two goals from Claudia Pina either side of a strike from Vicky Lopez securing the trophy.
The opening hour was just as frustrating for Spain as the first leg had been, with Germany clinging on despite the hosts' free-flowing football.
But just after the hour mark, Mariona set up the opening goal for Pina, completing a one-two with the Barcelona forward who found the corner of the net from the edge of the penalty area.
The assist for our no.8 means she finishes the competition with six, making her the top assister in the tournament.
Seven minutes later, Lopez, who was filling in for the injured Aitana Bonmati, curled in a brilliant second to cement Spain’s dominance.
With 15 minutes to go, Pina stole possession on the halfway line and charged forward before ripping a powerful effort into the top corner to complete a comfortable victory.
Mariona’s Spain secured their second Nations League title, having beaten France 2-0 in the final of the previous edition.
They topped their group despite a defeat to England, winning the other five matches, before thumping Sweden 5-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals.
After celebrating another international honour with her country, Mariona will return to north London ahead of our WSL fixture against Liverpool at Emirates Stadium on Saturday, December 6.
