Over the weekend, Manchester United legend David Beckham couldn't resist a cheeky dig at Liverpool while attending the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix. The Reds currently find themselves in eighth place in the Premier League, level on points with their arch-rivals but trailing on goal difference.
Despite entering the season as the reigning Premier League champion, Liverpool has had a rough ride so far. It managed to claw its way back to winning form on Sunday, moving up to eighth after defeating West Ham United, but has still suffered nine losses in the last 13 games across all competitions.
Liverpool will be back on the pitch on Wednesday night, hosting Sunderland, before the Red Devils welcome West Ham to Old Trafford on Thursday.
This means that Liverpool could potentially overtake its long-standing rival in the next round of Premier League fixtures.
United were also in action at the weekend, pulling off a comeback to secure a 2-1 victory away at Crystal Palace. Meanwhile, Red Devils icon Beckham was busy rubbing shoulders with his former England team-mates Gary Neville, Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand, among a host of other celebrities at the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Lando Norris could have clinched the drivers world championship on Sunday, had the results been in his favor.

However, the British driver had to settle for fourth place as Max Verstappen claimed victory at the Losail Circuit, keeping the championship battle alive going into next week's season finale in Abu Dhabi, with both drivers and Oscar Piastri still in contention for the world title.
With football legends including Beckham, Neville, Gerrard and Ferdinand in attendance at the circuit, they were unable to keep proper tabs on Manchester United and Liverpool's respective fixtures on Sunday afternoon – though they would have been delighted to learn their former sides secured all three points.
Following the race, Beckham was in a playful mood as he aimed a light-hearted jab at the Reds on his Instagram story.
The Manchester United icon shared footage of himself inside an Adidas store browsing through various baseball caps, including those of Liverpool and the Red Devils.
Beckham couldn't resist the temptation to grab a Manchester United cap and strategically place it over the Liverpool hat, obscuring his rivals' badge, before turning towards the camera and proclaiming: "That's a lot better!"
Accompanying the clip, which has since been shared by CBS Sports, he tagged his former club and repeated the same message alongside a cheeky wink emoji.
