The Detroit Pistons could be close to getting back another member of their active roster from injury as forward Bobi Klintman was assigned to Detroit’s G League team, the Motor City Cruise, the team announced on Tuesday.
An assignment to the G League roster typically signals an impending return to the court as he’ll be likely to get scrimmage reps — at the very least — during his assignment.
Klintman has been absent for the Pistons [since Nov. 17 due to a left ankle sprain](https://www.mlive.com/pistons/2025/11/injury-outlook-unclear-for-young-pistons-forward-as-absences-persist.html). He was seen doing individual work off to the side during an open portion of shoot around last month sporting a walking boot.
Coach J.B. Bickerstaff said the team expected Klintman to miss "a little bit of time" since last competing in a win against the Philadelphia 76ers on Nov. 14.
Before the injury, the second-year player was used on and off in limited minutes, often getting out on the court at the end of blowout games. Klintman, 22, has played in six games, averaging just under nine minutes and posting 2.8 points and 2.7 rebounds per appearance.
An early-season injury and the Pistons’ depth at power forward last season kept Klintman largely with the Cruise during his rookie year, but he figures to get more NBA experience this season despite an already jam-packed 12-man rotation.
Sasser hitting the floor
------------------------
Earlier this week, the [Pistons also assigned guard Marcus Sasser to the Cruise](https://www.mlive.com/pistons/2025/12/pistons-guard-moves-closer-to-season-debut-adding-another-challenge-to-rotation.html) as part of his rehab from a right hip impingement that’s kept him out since midway through preseason.
However, it looks like that won’t just be to get in scrimmage reps with the team like Jaden Ivey did before his return from knee surgery.
The Cruise announced Sasser will be active for Wednesday’s matchup against the Wisconsin Herd (Bucks) at Wayne State Fieldhouse. There’s no indication yet of whether Klintman will also be activated for any G League games.
Sasser got two preseason games under his belt before being held out due to his hip injury.
The third-year guard is still waiting to make his season debut after playing in 57 games last year, averaging 6.6 points, 2.3 assists and 1.2 rebounds on 46.3% shooting from the field and 38.2% from beyond the arc.
