Liverpool have their eye on this Real Madrid player as one of their leading transfer targets for 2026

Liverpool once again find themselves linked with Real Madrid on the transfer front as they search the market for new signings.

Several high profile transfer stories connecting the two clubs have done the rounds in recent years, from Liverpool’s pursuit of Jude Bellingham, to Madrid’s long-standing interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Since then, other links continue have continued to crop up - mostly relating to Real Madrid and more free signing opportunities. Up until recently, Ibrahima Konate was a leading target for Los Blancos, but their interest has reportedly faded amid his recent poor performances for the Reds.

Now, it’s Liverpool who are knocking on Madrid’s door with a top priority target set in their sights.

Liverpool want to sign Eduardo Camavinga

Liverpool are still on the market for new midfielders, despite signing four during the 2023 transfer window. Wataru Endo’s future is uncertain and the Reds still haven’t found themselves a proper replacement for Fabinho.

The Brazilian’s tough presence in midfield and his no-nonsense approach to defending is wildly missed at Anfield, so Liverpool remain active on the market for a potential new signing.

Recent reports have suggested that the Premier League champions are expected to submit a bid in the region of €60 million (£53m) in attempt to prise Camavinga away from the Spanish capital.

The France international is currently one of the most sought-after players in Europe and Liverpool are among the club competing for his signature as they look to improve their options in the engine room.

Slot has ‘identified’ Camavinga as a priority transfer target to strengthen his midfield. E-Noticies has also reported that the Premier League champions are exploring the market for new midfielders, as Liverpool are ‘desperately’ searching for a ‘physical and dominant’ figure like Camavinga.

Liverpool can propose bittersweet player swap deal with Real Madrid

Camavinga has multiple clubs showing interest in him right now but Liverpool can set themselves apart from the rest by offering a player swap deal. It would no doubt be a tough one for the club to swallow but would almost certainly tip the scales in their direction.

Real Madrid are strong admirers of Alexis Mac Allister and have been linked with the Argentinian in the past. Offering the midfielder up in exchange for Camavinga would likely convince Los Blancos to part ways with their own player.

Mac Allister would certainly be a figure missed at Anfield but it would allow Slot to deploy Camavinga as a natural No.6 option, which will allow Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch the space to play further up the pitch and contribute more to Liverpool’s attack.

A move to the mighty Madrid would surely also be tempting for Mac Allister while he is still in the prime of his career.

While this move would be a shocking and overall bittersweet one for Liverpool and their fans, it would see both clubs sign a player they need and want.
